The organizers of the second Copa Papaya bolas tournament have donated a combined Afl. 3,500 to two community groups in Paradera. Kawara and Curason Jong each received Afl. 1,750 during presentations held on Saturday.
Haydy Boekhoudt, a member of the Papaya Ranch Bolas Team, said the competition is organized for company teams while also creating an opportunity to support local organizations.
Community support linked to sport
The donation follows the tournament’s three-day weekend program. Organizers expanded participation this year by dividing the competition into two groups, allowing more teams to take part than the 24 that joined the previous edition.
This is the second year that Copa Papaya has directed support to a community cause. The first edition benefited Uni un Man pa Yuda Nos Muchanan, an initiative focused on helping children.
Two Paradera beneficiaries
Both Kawara and Curason Jong are based in Paradera. The organizers thanked participating teams and sponsors whose involvement made the tournament and donations possible.
