ORANJESTAD, Aruba — A suspect in the Santa Cruz Shooting investigation has been re-arrested after new developments emerged in the case involving the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old near Winston Field on July 22.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that police detained suspect C.S. again on Saturday as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.

C.S. had previously been detained in connection with the same investigation but was later released.

According to prosecutors, subsequent developments in the investigation resulted in the suspect being taken into custody again.

Santa Cruz Shooting Investigation Continues

The Santa Cruz Shooting occurred on July 22, 2026, near Winston Field.

A 16-year-old was shot and killed during the incident.

Since then, the Aruba Police Force and the Public Prosecutor’s Office have been conducting an intensive investigation to determine what happened and establish the possible involvement of those under investigation.

The latest announcement does not explain what new evidence or information led authorities to re-arrest C.S.

Prosecutors have also not publicly disclosed the specific allegations currently being investigated against the suspect.

Seven People Initially Detained

During the first phase of the investigation, police detained seven people.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, three suspects currently remain detained in connection with the case.

The authorities have not provided additional information about the identities of the other detained suspects or the precise status of each individual in the investigation.

The latest update therefore represents another step in an investigation that has remained active since the shooting occurred.

Suspect Had Previously Been Released

C.S. was among those previously detained as authorities worked to reconstruct the events surrounding the fatal shooting.

At some point following the earlier arrest, the suspect was released.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office said new developments later gave investigators reason to detain C.S. again.

The available information does not state whether the re-arrest followed new witness statements, forensic findings, digital evidence or another investigative development.

Those details have not been made public.

Authorities Continue Investigating Teen’s Death

Police and prosecutors have continued working on the Santa Cruz Shooting case for more than a month.

Because the victim was only 16 years old, the incident has involved the death of a minor and remains a serious criminal investigation.

Authorities have not publicly announced whether they believe one individual or multiple people were directly involved in the shooting.

No details were provided in the latest update about a suspected motive, the firearm involved or whether a weapon has been recovered.

Three Suspects Remain in Custody

The latest information confirms that three suspects remain detained while the investigation continues.

Being detained as a suspect does not establish guilt, and those involved remain entitled to the presumption of innocence unless responsibility is proven through the judicial process.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office has not announced when further information may be released or whether additional arrests are expected.

For now, the re-arrest of C.S. marks the newest development in the Santa Cruz Shooting investigation as police and prosecutors continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death of the 16-year-old victim.
