ORANJESTAD, Aruba – Aruba Police Arrest Five after a vehicle pursuit on Wednesday evening led officers to detain three minors and two adults, while drugs and the vehicle involved were confiscated for further investigation.
According to the Aruba Police Force, the incident began at approximately 6:19 p.m. when the police dispatch center received a report about a vehicle near a business on Caya Frere Bernardinus. The caller reportedly indicated that one of the occupants of the vehicle might be in possession of a firearm.
Police patrol units from Oranjestad were immediately sent to the area and located the vehicle described in the report.
Officers ordered the driver to stop, but according to police, the driver did not comply with the instruction. A pursuit then began as officers followed the vehicle through the area.
Police eventually managed to stop the vehicle near the River Plate field.
Inside the vehicle, officers found five male occupants. Police said three of them were minors and two were adults.
Officers searched the vehicle and reportedly found drugs inside. All five occupants were subsequently arrested and transported to the police station.
According to the police statement, the suspects will be presented before the assistant public prosecutor as part of the next stage of the legal process.

Police then continued searching the area near the River Plate field for the firearm that had originally been reported.
According to investigators, there was a possibility that the weapon may have been discarded during the pursuit. The original report does not confirm whether the firearm was ultimately recovered.
The case has now been transferred to the criminal investigation department, which will continue examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators are expected to determine the ownership and type of the substances found inside the vehicle, establish the role of each suspect and continue efforts to determine whether a firearm was involved.
The police statement does not identify the five suspects or provide further details regarding their ages, beyond confirming that three are minors and two are adults.
Authorities also did not specify the quantity or type of drugs confiscated.
The Aruba Police Force is asking members of the public who may have information about the incident to contact the police tip line.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity, saw an object being discarded near the River Plate field or has other relevant information can contact the anonymous police tip line at 11141.
Police emphasized that callers using the tip line can remain anonymous.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests or further developments have not been ruled out as detectives continue reviewing the case.
