ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Gerardo Figaroa Named Aruba Lions Club Lion of the Year after being recognized for his outstanding service, dedication, and contributions to the organization during the 2025–2026 Lions year.
The annual “Lion of the Year” award is selected by the outgoing Board of Directors, which evaluates members based on their commitment, volunteer service, and overall contributions to the club.
This year, the honor was presented to Lion Gerardo Figaroa, who, together with his wife Lion Carolina Figaroa, played a significant role in the successful fundraising raffle for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Figaroa has been a member of the Aruba Lions Club for more than 17 years, serving in a variety of leadership positions. He has also been appointed as the club’s President for the 2026–2027 Lions year.
His commitment to community service began at a young age. Over the years, Figaroa has held several leadership roles, including Vice President of the Kiwanis Key Club, Board Member of APA, Secretary and later President of the Organization of Primary School Principals, and President of Centro di Playa Pabao. Since 2009, he has remained an active member of the Aruba Lions Club.
The Aruba Lions Club has served the island for nearly 80 years and is part of Lions Clubs International, one of the world’s oldest and largest service organizations. Lions Clubs International includes more than 46,000 clubs in over 200 countries and territories, with a global membership of more than 1.4 million.
Among the Aruba Lions Club’s ongoing community service programs are its hospital bed and wheelchair loan program, the Smile Mobile, Back-to-School Food Bags, holiday food distribution, and the annual Health Fair.
The Board of Directors, fellow Lions, and members of the Leo Club congratulated Gerardo Figaroa on receiving the Lion of the Year award and wished him continued success as he begins his term as President of the Aruba Lions Club. The club also thanked the community for its ongoing support and encouraged residents to follow its upcoming service activities.
