ORANJESTAD (AAN) – The Federation of Aruban Workers (FTA) brought together trade unions from across Aruba for an information session on the proposed HOFA framework and the LWHO (National Ordinance on Sustainable Public Finances).
FTA President Hose Figaroa said the meeting was well attended, with representatives from nearly every trade union and many executive board members participating.
According to Figaroa, the session aimed to provide union leaders with a clearer understanding of HOFA, including its origins, current status, key provisions and the direction being considered for the framework.
He noted that Aruba’s trade unions have already established a position on the issue, adding that the recent opinion issued by Aruba’s Council of Advice aligns with many of the concerns previously expressed by the labor movement.
During the meeting, participants also discussed the Council of Advice’s recommendations and the next steps unions intend to take regarding both HOFA and the related LWHO legislation.
