ORANJESTAD (AAN) – The Colombian Consulate in Aruba has introduced two new preventive healthcare programs aimed at supporting Colombians living on the island, particularly those without access to Aruba’s AZV health insurance.
Paula A. Giraldo, a representative of the Colombia Nos Une program, said approximately 7,000 Colombians live in Aruba. While many have regularized their immigration status, some still cannot access local healthcare services.
The first initiative offers 500 free dental cleanings for children and adults, with priority given to individuals who do not have medical coverage. Interested applicants can register through the Colombian Consulate’s official Facebook page and must present a Colombian identification card when selected.
Giraldo also announced that a second program will soon open, providing free medical consultations, preventive health screenings, mammograms for women, and health evaluations for children and men.
She emphasized that the goal is not only to provide healthcare services but also to encourage a culture of preventive care by motivating people to seek medical attention before health problems become serious.
The initiatives are part of Colombia Nos Une, a Colombian government program that supports Colombians living abroad through social and community outreach programs designed to improve their well-being.
