ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba’s permanent Waste Disposal Zone in Barcadera has delivered encouraging results since its official opening, providing residents with a more accessible and responsible way to dispose of waste.
During its first three weeks of operation, the facility welcomed 2,472 vehicles and collected 376 truckloads of waste, totaling 487 tons of material.
Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, Wendrick Cicilia, expressed satisfaction with the strong public response, stating that the figures demonstrate the need for a permanent waste disposal solution on the island.
“The results show that the community values this facility and is making good use of it. Together we can continue keeping Aruba clean and create a better environment to live, work, and visit,” Minister Cicilia said.
The Government of Aruba encourages residents to use the free facility to dispose of bulky waste, garden waste, and other approved materials responsibly.
The Waste Disposal Zone is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., giving residents a convenient option for proper waste disposal.
Officials emphasized that every resident who uses the facility contributes to a cleaner, more organized, and more sustainable Aruba for future generations.
