Elmar NV, in collaboration with WEB Aruba, has launched an awareness campaign to prepare the community for the heat season. Now in its fourth consecutive year, the initiative focuses on sharing information regarding safety, preparation methods, and the effects of high temperatures on the electrical grid. Audrey Croes, PR of Elmar NV, confirmed that the official heat season began in early June and will continue until the end of September, the period that historically records the highest temperatures of the year.
Elmar has undertaken several technical measures to manage the season. The company has completed major maintenance on high-voltage equipment at seven substations across the island before the season began. Croes explained that Elmar uses this time to measure load data to plan for the potential demand of the coming year, balancing the network and increasing capacity with transformers. She noted that smaller maintenance works on power lines continue throughout the year, where the community is informed in advance via official communication.
The company emphasized that the main message for the public is to prioritize health and safety during this period. Residents are urged to take preventative measures around their homes and lifestyles.
