On Thursday, May 21, 2026, police from the Oranjestad district, in collaboration with the Unidad Motorisa, conducted traffic controls at various strategic locations throughout the district. The operation took place during the afternoon and extended into the evening hours.
By the end of the control, authorities had issued a total of 111 fines. Additionally, officers detained one individual for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license (rijbewijs).
The citations covered a range of violations, including the lack of a valid rijbewijs or insurance, unpaid motor vehicle taxes, and the absence of a valid inspection card (keuringskaart). Fines were also issued for failure to use safety belts, defective front lights, and failure to use signals.
The Cuerpo Policial emphasized that these controls will continue. They urged all motorists to ensure their vehicle documents are in order and to comply with traffic rules, stating that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
