ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH) recently hosted its annual Staff Appreciation Week 2026 to honor the dedication of its employees. Held during May to align with International Nurses Day, the week-long event focused on demonstrating appreciation for all colleagues working within the medical facility.
The program, themed “Wanderlust,” centered on the concept of exploration and inspiration. The hospital kicked off the week with a virtual address from the Board of Directors and a ‘grab ‘n go’ breakfast. Throughout the week, staff participated in several activities related to the theme, including workshops, group walks, a scavenger hunt, and a creative decoration competition named ‘wander the world’.
On May 12, recognized as Nurses Day, HOH professionals received tokens of appreciation. The day also featured a sustainability component known as the ‘one tree initiative,’ where employees made donations and planted trees. This day also emphasized the importance of nursing colleagues who are at the bedside of patients every day.
Jacco Vroegop, President of the Board of Directors, emphasized the event’s importance in underlining the staff’s essential role. “I am very proud of them and I hope Aruba is also proud of them,” Vroegop stated.
The week served as a period of inspiration, reminding everyone that regardless of their function, every person in the hospital has an important task for the patients.
