ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Benny Sevinger and Pieter Susebeek have been imprisoned following the final ruling by the Dutch Supreme Court, which upheld the decision of the Caribbean Court of Justice in the major Aruba corruption case known as “Caso Avestruz.”
With no legal options remaining, both men reported to prison at KIA to begin serving their sentences. Benny Sevinger has been sentenced to three years in prison, while Pieter Susebeek must serve 20 months.
Leoncita Arends, who was also convicted and sentenced to one year in prison, is currently abroad. Upon her return to Aruba, she will need to report to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to arrange the start of her sentence.
The case, widely known as Caso Avestruz, is considered one of the largest corruption investigations in Aruba’s history.
