Censo Aruba Civil Registry Crisis : Parliamentarian Eduard Pieters of the PPA faction has demanded accountability from the government regarding the ongoing crisis at the Censo Aruba (Civil Registry). Pieters raised the issue during a weekly press conference, stating that the failure to provide appointments is preventing residents from working legally.
Since January, the system has faced significant delays, affecting students returning from abroad and adults seeking employment. Pieters noted that without registration, individuals cannot sign labor contracts, leaving them without income or AZV insurance coverage. He placed responsibility for the “poor governance” on Minister Arthur Dowers and Minister Mike Eman.
The PPA faction submitted 18 formal questions to the government on March 30 but has yet to receive a response nearly a month later. Pieters argued that the lack of coordination between ministries is unacceptable and called for immediate structural solutions to resolve the administrative bottleneck.
