The KIA Correctional Officers Aruba Vacancies have officially been announced as the government opens new opportunities for individuals interested in joining the correctional system.
During a press conference held on Wednesday, Minister of Justice Arthur Dowers confirmed that applications are now open for candidates who wish to enter training as Aspirant Correctional Officers at the Correctional Institution Aruba (KIA).

According to the minister, the decision is both timely and necessary due to increasing pressure on current staff and future plans for a new correctional facility.
The new intake will form part of the 2026–2027 training program, designed to prepare candidates for the demanding responsibilities within the correctional system. Minister Dowers emphasized that the role goes beyond security, highlighting the importance of maintaining order while also contributing to the resocialization and rehabilitation of detainees.
The KIA Correctional Officers Aruba Vacancies require candidates to meet specific criteria. Applicants must hold Dutch nationality and possess a minimum educational level such as MAVO 4, HAVO, LTS T-stream, EPB through-flow, or EPI level. Candidates must also be between 21 and 35 years old and meet a minimum height requirement of 1.60 meters.
In addition, all applicants must successfully pass medical, psychotechnical, and physical fitness tests, along with a comprehensive background check. Proficiency in Dutch, Papiamento, English, and Spanish is also required to ensure effective communication within the correctional environment.
Interested individuals can submit their applications on April 29 and 30 at the KIA Training Center in Balashi. From the pool of applicants, only the top fifteen candidates will be selected to participate in the intensive training program.
The training will last several months and includes a monthly salary, after which successful candidates will officially enter government service.
