ORANJESTAD (AAN): Parliamentarian Evelyn Wever-Croes has called on the government to take immediate action following the final ruling in the Avestruz corruption case.
During a parliamentary session on oil opportunities, she raised concerns about the outcome of the Avestruz Case Aruba Government Action, emphasizing the need for authorities to recover assets linked to the case.
Wever-Croes highlighted that the ruling from the courts provides clear direction for the government to pursue the recovery of funds and properties obtained through irregular means.
According to her, the public is expecting concrete steps, especially after the case—considered one of the largest corruption cases in Aruba’s history—has officially concluded.
The Avestruz Case Aruba Government Action discussion included questions directed at the Minister of Justice regarding whether the government will follow through on legal recommendations related to damages and asset recovery.
She stressed that citizens are actively questioning when the money and land involved will be returned to the people of Aruba.
“Awo e bala ta den man di Gobierno,” Wever-Croes stated, underlining that the responsibility now lies with the government to act decisively.
