ORANJESTAD (AAN): A Pos Chikito DUI accident occurred on Sunday night, March 29, 2026, at the Pos Chikito roundabout, leaving two people injured after a serious collision.
Police and ambulance units were dispatched to the scene following reports of the accident. Upon arrival, officers determined that the driver of a Nissan Fair Lady, who was reportedly intoxicated and suffering from a medical condition, failed to yield at the roundabout.
The driver was traveling along the Green Corridor and did not give priority to a Hyundai Grand i10 coming from Sabana Basora that was already on the roundabout. The collision caused both vehicles to crash onto the roundabout, resulting in significant damage.
Investigations revealed that the driver of the Nissan had no valid documents or insurance for the vehicle. Due to the impact, two individuals were injured and received medical attention at the scene from ambulance personnel.
The driver was tested by police and found to be under the influence of alcohol. As a result, the individual was arrested for driving under the influence and causing the accident.
The Pos Chikito DUI accident highlights the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of following traffic laws, especially at busy roundabouts.
