SABA Open Day will organize an on March 22 in Playa, inviting the Aruba community to visit Verpleeghuis Oranjestad (VO) and learn more about the care provided to elderly residents.
The event will take place on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the nursing home located at Caya Ing. Roland H. Laclé 5 in Oranjestad. The open day will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
According to the organizers, the event will offer an interactive experience showing how SABA operates and provides care for Aruba’s elderly population.
Behind-the-Scenes Look at Elderly Care
Visitors will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the daily operations at Verpleeghuis Oranjestad and learn more about the services provided to residents.
Guided tours of the facility will take place every 30 minutes, allowing guests to see the different areas of the nursing home and specialized care facilities.
Members of the SABA healthcare team will also be present to answer questions and provide more information about their services.
Activities With Residents
During the Open Day, visitors will also be able to participate in interactive activities together with residents, creating opportunities for community connection and meaningful shared experiences.
According to Sulima Geerman, Director of SABA, the organization believes that care goes beyond medical services.
“Care is more than care,” Geerman explained. “It means creating the true essence of a home for every resident we care for. By opening our doors, we proudly show the community what ‘Stronger Together’ really means.”
Health Awareness Collaboration
The Open Day will also feature a health awareness initiative in collaboration with Fundacion ABO as part of International Colorectal Cancer Prevention Month.
A special information table will be available where visitors between 45 and 75 years old can learn more about the FIT-test, a private screening test that can be done at home to help detect colorectal cancer early.
According to Dr. Chris Franca, founder of the CORESA program, early screening is important for prevention.
“A screening does not have to start at the hospital. It can begin with a simple choice at home,” Dr. Franca explained.
