ORANJESTAD (AAN): The First Baki den Bario 2026 Launches in Tanki Leendert as Aruba continues strengthening its commitment to neighborhood cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
The first edition for 2026 will take place on Saturday, March 7, in the Tanki Leendert area. The collection point will be located on a terrain behind Scol Colegio Ora Ubao, providing residents with a convenient and organized location to dispose of bulky waste and household debris.
The First Baki den Bario 2026 Launches in Tanki Leendert following the positive response the initiative received throughout 2025. The program is a collaborative effort between Serlimar, City Inspector, DOW, Compania Carenza, and other stakeholders, all working together to make waste disposal more accessible for communities.
During a press conference held on Monday morning, Prime Minister Mike Eman officially announced the initiative. He emphasized that Baki den Bario is not just a cleanup activity but a practical public service designed to bring government services closer to residents.
The initiative allows community members to deposit bulky waste, discarded furniture, and other large items in an organized and responsible manner. By doing so, authorities aim to reduce illegal dumping and improve overall neighborhood conditions.
The First Baki den Bario 2026 Launches in Tanki Leendert also forms part of a broader plan to introduce a permanent pilot disposal site. Government officials confirmed that a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week facility is expected to open by the end of March or early April. This permanent site will allow both residential and commercial users to dispose of various types of waste at no cost.
The long-term objective is to create a more structural solution for waste management across the island, reducing the need for transporting waste to distant areas and increasing accessibility for residents.
Stakeholders involved in the project stressed the importance of collaboration. The initiative demonstrates how Aruba can unite public and private entities to maintain a cleaner island. Community participation remains essential to the program’s success.
Throughout 2026, Baki den Bario will rotate to different major neighborhoods across Aruba, ensuring that multiple communities have the opportunity to participate.
