ORANJESTAD (AAN) – SMAC President Satisfied with Carnival Progress This Year, said Darren van Ommeren, the President of the SMAC (Carnival organization) in an interview with Matutino DIARIO. He expressed that this year’s Carnival went smoothly compared to previous years.
“Everything was in place, as you can see, and from the start, you could feel the energy. This year, the Carnival has been much smoother than the previous years, and I believe that’s the result of the work we’ve done throughout the year to prepare for the festivities. We’ve had a structured approach all year, and while the preparations were slightly delayed this year, everything came together well. At this point, the events and parades have been well-attended, and the products presented along the streets were excellent,” van Ommeren highlighted.
He added that the communication and coordination had also gone well. “Every year, SMAC holds meetings with various stakeholders, and this year we had several meetings with musicians, which contributed to the smoothness of the entire event. The outcomes have been very acceptable,” he emphasized.
Darren van Ommeren also mentioned that, with the exception of some delays, the behavior of the public was much improved. He noted that the majority of the behavior was positive, which helped make the parades even smoother. Groups that participated were well-organized, and that also contributed to the overall success of the event.
“In this case, I encourage everyone to continue the positive behavior through the final weekend of Carnival 72. Let’s ensure a fantastic and successful ending,” said Darren van Ommeren, President of SMAC.
