On Saturday night, the Motorized Unit of the Aruba Police took control of traffic after the Lighting Parade.

They detained a total of 15 drivers, all of whom showed signs of being under the influence. When asked to cooperate for a breathalyzer test, the results clearly indicated that they had exceeded the legal alcohol limit in Aruba.

As a result, the drivers were required to leave their vehicles and were escorted by special police vehicles to the Police Station.

The police action has been viewed positively, as it prevented 15 drunk drivers from continuing on the road and potentially causing accidents. In comparison to last year’s Carnival in 2025, there were only 7 detentions.

The Aruba Police Department urges everyone: if you drink, don’t drive. Always seek a Responsible Friend (BAR). Safe driving is everyone’s responsibility.
