ORANJESTAD (February 2, 2026): Aruba housing and Airbnb parliamentary questioning has been requested by AVP parliamentarian John Hart, who has formally called on the Minister of Infrastructure to appear before Parliament for a question hour focused on housing and short-term rentals.
Hart submitted official questions to Minister of Infrastructure R. Herdé, whose portfolio includes housing policy, requesting that the minister provide answers during a parliamentary question session. According to Hart, Aruba housing and Airbnb parliamentary questioning is necessary due to long-standing stagnation in the housing market.
During the session, Hart plans to ask the minister to explain the obstacles that have contributed to limited housing development over many years and what measures are being taken to stimulate construction and improve the availability of rental homes.
The Aruba housing and Airbnb parliamentary questioning will also address potential options to increase rental subsidies for households that rely on minimum income. Additionally, Hart seeks clarity on whether APFA could provide low-interest loans to FCCA to support the construction of social housing.
Another key topic to be discussed is the government’s vision regarding short-term vacation rentals, including Airbnb. Hart emphasized that Parliament’s role is to oversee government policy and that transparency is essential when dealing with critical issues such as housing affordability and regulation in Aruba.
