An American tourist dies at Boca Catalina , marking the third tourist death in the sea within one week in Aruba.
The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon when emergency services were alerted to a serious situation involving a female cruise ship passenger at Boca Catalina. The 58-year-old woman was using a Sea Bob, an electric underwater scooter, when she encountered difficulties below the surface.
Witnesses helped bring the tourist to shore and immediately began CPR when she showed no signs of responsiveness. Police and ambulance units arrived quickly and continued life-saving efforts, including cardiac monitoring, but no pulse was detected. A doctor was called to the scene, where the woman was pronounced dead by forensic authorities.
The victim was confirmed to be an American national. Victim Support Services (Bureau Slachtofferhulp) was notified to assist those affected.
Authorities note that this is the third tourist to die during a sea-related incident in Aruba within a single week, raising renewed concern about health preparedness and safety awareness for visitors engaging in water activities.
Condolences have been extended to the family of the deceased.
