ORANJESTAD (AAN):
Following reports early Saturday morning that U.S. military forces had launched an attack in Venezuela with the alleged objective of capturing President Nicolás Maduro, airline dispatchers at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport took precautionary measures.

Due to a NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) issued restricting air traffic over Venezuelan airspace and areas controlled by the Curaçao Flight Information Region, KLM decided to cancel all flights to and from the Dutch Caribbean.

All KLM flights scheduled for Saturday to Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, and St. Maarten were canceled, affecting approximately 2,600 passengers, according to an official statement from the airline.

In addition, KLM also canceled flights to Georgetown (Guyana), Bridgetown (Barbados), and Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago).

The canceled KLM flights to the Dutch Caribbean included KL-733, KL-735, KL-765, KL-775, and KL-783.

By Sunday, KLM had resumed operations to the Dutch Caribbean and worked to rebook as many stranded passengers as possible from the previous day.

Meanwhile, TUI Fly also canceled flights to the ABC Islands, scrapping three fully booked flights and affecting approximately 900 passengers, many of whom were traveling for the Easter holiday period.
