FCVR Closes 16 Days of Activism Campaign with Premiere of Short Film “Mi a Purba

The Foundation Against Relational Violence (FCVR) officially concluded the 16 Days of Activism – Orange the World 2025 campaign with the premiere of the short film “Mi a Purba” at The Movies at Gloria.

In a conversation with DIARIO following the event, Rish-Ann Ammerlaan of FCVR explained that the film portrays the journey of a survivor of domestic violence. The story is adapted to real-life situations in Aruba and highlights the obstacles survivors face, as well as the pathways toward coordination, support, and recovery.

This year’s global Orange the World theme focused on digital violence, including issues such as stalking, sharing images without consent, bullying, and online harassment.

Throughout the 16 days of activism, FCVR organized a series of activities aimed at raising public awareness about domestic violence. The foundation participated in multiple radio programs and noted a very positive public response, with strong attendance and engagement across the various events organized in collaboration with other institutions that are part of the national commission.

Ms. Ammerlaan emphasized that FCVR’s main goal is to become more visible within the community and to increase awareness around prevention, working together with all relevant stakeholders to eradicate violence in Aruba.

“Violence is not easy to eliminate,” she stated. “We have worked hard to reach where we are today, and we are satisfied with the progress made this year. Being more visible helps the community know that our foundation exists. Next year, we want to be more present in schools and companies, offering more talks and intensive workshops for professionals. The more people understand the issue, the more support we can provide to others.”

The premiere of “Mi a Purba” was very well received, and FCVR expressed its gratitude to all foundations and partners who contributed to making the event a major success.
