On December 7th, the Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx) hosted its annual Leadership Awards ceremony in Miami, Florida. CMEx is a regional platform dedicated to strengthening collaboration across the Caribbean by bringing together media professionals, tourism experts, and influencers to discuss key issues such as tourism, culture, and social development. Each year, the event recognizes influential leaders who make a meaningful impact on the region.

This year, Ronella Croes, Chief Executive Officer of the Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.), was honored with a Leadership Award for her exceptional contribution to Caribbean tourism.

“I am truly honored to receive this recognition. My heartfelt thanks to the entire CMEx team,” Croes said. “Being acknowledged among such an exceptional group of leaders fills me with pride. My passion for the travel and hospitality industry has always guided me.”

Ronella Croes began her career in tourism leadership at the age of 27—young, driven, and determined to make a difference. Now, more than two decades later, she has served two Caribbean destinations and remains committed to guiding the next generation of leaders.
“It is important to show young people that they too can lead with confidence, drive meaningful change, and leave a lasting impact on their communities,” she added.

Throughout her career, she has witnessed significant shifts in the global tourism landscape. As destinations worldwide face challenges such as overtourism, the need for responsible tourism has grown. At A.T.A., the focus is now firmly on sustainable and responsible tourism practices.

A.T.A. expressed great pride in its CEO, recognizing her leadership, dedication, and ongoing commitment to Aruba and the continued growth of its tourism sector.
