Aruba Ranked Among the Safest Destinations in the Caribbean, New Study Finds

A new safety report from the travel platform Going has revealed that several Caribbean destinations continue to excel in security, offering travelers peace of mind during their vacations. Topping the list is Saint Barthélemy (St. Barts), named the safest island in the region thanks to its exceptionally low crime rates, strong infrastructure, and adherence to French law enforcement standards.

According to the study, St. Barts is admired for its high-end resorts, luxury lifestyle, and world-class healthcare services. The U.S. State Department also categorizes the French West Indies, including St. Barts, under its lowest Level 1 travel advisory, meaning visitors only need to “exercise normal precautions.”

The report stresses that vacation planning should focus on relaxation and discovery rather than safety concerns, noting that some destinations naturally stand out due to their governance, stability, and tourism-driven economies.

Following St. Barts, Anguilla earned recognition for its strong British Overseas Territory governance and comprehensive emergency services. This island was also recently listed as the safest country in the Caribbean by World Population Review’s Global Peace Index.

Rounding out the top three safest destinations is Aruba, celebrated for its consistent record of safety and preparedness. The island benefits from:

  • A strategic location outside the hurricane belt
  • Highly trained local police
  • Strong healthcare infrastructure
  • A tourism environment that prioritizes visitor safety

Aruba, like Anguilla, is also classified under the U.S. State Department’s Level 1 travel advisory, reflecting its secure environment and reliable emergency response systems.

Beyond these, the report also highlighted other safe destinations including the Cayman Islands, Barbados, Turks and Caicos, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, and Grenada.

To determine its rankings, Going evaluated key indicators such as crime rates, healthcare quality, emergency response capabilities, and political stability.

However, the study also pointed out destinations travelers should approach with caution. Haiti remains under a Level 4 advisory due to severe security risks, while Trinidad and Tobago currently holds a Level 3 advisory urging travelers to reconsider visiting.

As travelers increasingly prioritize safety, islands like Aruba continue to stand out as some of the most secure and welcoming destinations in the Caribbean.
