For the first time in its history, the Central Bank of Aruba (BCA) opened its doors to the public with a historic event titled “Meet Your Central Bank.”
The official opening took place on Friday, November 21, for invited guests, and on Saturday, November 22, 2025, the event opened to the entire community, offering an interactive and educational experience where visitors of all ages explored the essential role BCA plays in Aruba’s economy and society.
Official Opening – ‘Our Treasure: Aruba’s Florin’
The launch of the exhibition ‘Nos Tesoro – Aruba su Florin’ was held on November 21. The ceremony welcomed:
- The Governor of Aruba, H.E. Alfonso Boekhoudt
- The President of the Central Bank, Jeanette R. (Jane) Semeleer
- The Prime Minister, Michiel G. (Mike) Eman
- The Minister of Finance, Economy & Primary Sector, Geoffrey B. Wever
- Members of BCA’s Supervisory Board
- Other invited dignitaries
Guests were able to explore how Aruba’s banknotes are designed—from conceptual art to final production—while also learning about key security features and viewing a collection of commemorative and circulation coins.
Community Day – Learning Stations for All Ages
On November 22, the full community participated in several educational stations:
- “BCA: Past, Present & Future” – Presentations by BCA employees and the President, providing insights into BCA’s responsibilities and strategic plans.
- “Cyber Operations” – Students experienced a guided mini-hackathon led by an international cyber expert.
- “Smart Money: Your Finances in Your Hands” – Adults attended interactive workshops focused on budgeting and savings. Children enjoyed financial education games and puzzles.
The Aruba Police Force (KPA), Fire Department, and Ambulance Care teams were also present, offering demonstrations of their work to the public.
Community Donations
The event concluded with BCA donating Afl. 32,000 in total to five local organizations:
- Aruba Conservation Foundation
- Stichting Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds Aruba
- Neptali Henriquez Park
- Fundacion Pa Nos Comunidad
- Brighter Future Academy Foundation
These donations reflect BCA’s long-standing commitment to supporting projects that strengthen Aruba’s community well-being.
BCA also expressed gratitude to the Kiwanis Club of Palm Beach Aruba for managing the food service and thanked all internal and external teams who contributed to the event.
“Meet Your Central Bank” showcased BCA’s ongoing dedication to integrity, sustainability, and responsibility toward Aruba’s community.
