The Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA) is thrilled to announce the results of the 2025 Big Live Nature Quiz — Kids Edition! This year saw a record number of young participants, with more children than ever signing up to test their knowledge of Marine Habitats, including coral reefs, seagrass beds, and the deep sea. Students from all six Dutch Caribbean islands joined in, making it one of the region’s most exciting educational events.
A Record-Breaking Edition
More than 850 students from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St. Eustatius, and St. Maarten participated this year. With increasing school involvement each edition, the quiz continues to grow as a key event that inspires children to learn about nature while having fun.
And the 2025 Champions Are…
The grand winners of the 2025 Big Live Nature Quiz are “Eco Detectives Curaçao” from the Curaçao American Preparatory School. Their impressive knowledge of coral reefs, bays, lagoons, and marine ecosystems earned them the top spot. Their prize includes an exciting sailing and snorkeling adventure with their teacher, allowing them to explore the ocean firsthand.
Local Winners from Each Island
Each island also celebrated its own top-performing team:
- Aruba: Tortuga (St. Annaschool)
- Bonaire: Sea Lions (IKC Kristu Bon Wardador)
- Curaçao: Eco Detectives Curaçao (Curaçao American Preparatory School)
- Saba: Intelligent Girls (Sacred Heart School)
- St. Eustatius: Blue Beads (Governor De Graaff School)
- St. Maarten: The Science Children St. Maarten (Asha Stevens Hillside Christian School)
Every local winning team will receive special Big Live Nature Quiz rashguards — perfect for ocean-loving kids across the islands.
Celebrating Teamwork and Environmental Awareness
DCNA extends a heartfelt thank you to all participating students, teachers, and schools. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and passion for learning help support the protection of the region’s beautiful underwater world.
Educational Tools for Young Ocean Explorers
All quiz questions were sourced from BioNews Kids, DCNA’s nature magazine for children, which teaches about marine habitats and their importance. The booklet is available in English, Dutch, Papiamentu, and Papiamento, making it accessible to kids across the islands in their native languages.
Strengthening Island Collaboration
This year’s quiz was made possible through collaboration among all six Dutch Caribbean islands, along with support from DCNA partners, including the Nature Foundation Sint Maarten. Assistance from schools, local television networks, and funding from the Dutch National Postcode Lottery helped bring the event to a record number of children.
