Hospital updates cooling system issue in Tower B; working with SOGA on structural fix

Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH) informs the Aruba community about the current situation with the centralized cooling system in Tower B, which includes the Emergency Department (SEH), Maternity, and Pediatrics.

The system is experiencing a technical problem, resulting in limited cooling on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors. This may cause discomfort for inpatients, visitors, and staff—something the hospital deeply regrets.

Stichting Onroerend Goed Aruba (SOGA), responsible for the building and technical installations, is working with its contractor on a structural solution. In the meantime, HOH has installed temporary external air-conditioning units in Tower B to lower temperatures and reduce the impact on patients and personnel.

Given the unusually high outdoor temperatures recently, HOH emphasizes that patient and staff health and well-being remain central. All necessary measures are being taken to limit the effects until the system is fixed.

HOH asks for the community’s understanding and trust as it continues to work closely with SOGA and contractors to repair the cooling system. The hospital remains committed to delivering quality care in the most comfortable environment possible.
