A tragic motorcycle accident occurred early this morning in Calabas, Oranjestad, claiming the life of Giomar Adriano “Gio” Heronimo, aged 50.
At approximately 3:30 AM, local residents heard a loud noise coming from the Calabas area and immediately notified the police. Police responded quickly and discovered a motorcycle crashed against the curb near Calabas 9-A. The rider, a man later identified as Heronimo, was found unresponsive and in critical condition.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, and despite immediate efforts to resuscitate him, paramedics confirmed that Heronimo showed no signs of life. Authorities then called for the presence of forensic and traffic specialists for further investigation.
Heronimo, known as “Gio,” was well-regarded in the local motorsports community and had a reputation for his expertise in tuning engines, repairs, and diagnostics. He was also actively involved in Go-Kart racing.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, as authorities have requested a forensic autopsy to determine whether the accident was due to the crash itself or another cause prior to the fall.
The family of the deceased has received support from the Bureau Slachtofferhulp, and condolences have been extended by both the Aruba Police and DIARIO.
