Soon All DIMP Taxpayers Will Access Account Statements Online and Arrange Payments Digitally

The Director of the Department of Taxes Aruba (DIMP), Drs. Luenne Gomes-Pieters, announced that two major projects are currently underway: the digitalization and automation of processes, and the introduction of a fully digital taxpayer account system.

She explained that this system can be compared to online banking, where taxpayers will soon be able to view their tax account statements directly through a secure portal. This will allow both businesses and individuals to monitor their open tax balances, including pending payments and cases under objection.

With the new system, taxpayers will also be able to set up their own online payment arrangements, choosing flexible installment options — up to 12 terms — as determined by DIMP. The portal will also provide a clear record of payments made, whether in person or online, and display official receipts as they are registered in the system.

According to Gomes-Pieters, the project is designed to be user-friendly and will give taxpayers greater control over their own tax affairs. She believes it will reduce the number of complaints from those who previously had difficulty obtaining answers directly from the department.

Currently, businesses are already benefiting from the digital portal, and soon individual taxpayers will also be able to register and access their accounts through “Bo Impuesto,” the digital tax portal of Aruba.

“This project ensures that our taxpayers receive a clear overview and a reliable product. For the first time, citizens will truly have control over their own tax matters,” she said. Despite limited staffing at DIMP, the digitalization effort will improve efficiency and align Aruba with international best practices in tax administration.
