Minister Wendrick Cicilia Celebrates 10 Years of ATA Latin America

Aruba’s Minister of Tourism, Mr. Wendrick Cicilia, is currently visiting Bogotá, Colombia to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) office for the Latin American market. This historic visit marks the first time in eight years that an Aruba tourism minister has officially visited the region, underscoring Aruba’s firm commitment to strengthening ties with Latin American markets.

The visit also responds directly to requests from stakeholders and ATA Latin America itself, who called for greater government support in their marketing initiatives. According to Minister Cicilia, the presence of a government representative in the region is crucial for diversifying the island’s tourism industry.

Ambitious Growth Goals
Aruba’s tourism strategy is targeting affluent markets such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and of course, Colombia. For 2025, the goal is a 6% growth in visitors from Latin America and a 15% increase in “long-haul” markets (Argentina, Brazil, Chile). Cicilia expressed confidence that these targets will be surpassed, thanks to the tireless efforts of ATA Latin America combined with the ministry’s political backing.

Meeting with Key Partners
During his trip, Minister Cicilia met with Jordan Schlipklen-Croes, Director of ATA Latin America, and highlighted that the growth in Latin American visitors is the result of long-term structural work carried out over the past decade.

He emphasized that Aruba continues to be a strong and attractive destination for Latin American travelers and that the task ahead is to preserve, strengthen, and expand this position for the future.
