Thousands Gather to Bid Farewell to Robert Jeand’or

From early morning, cars began lining up along Avenida Milio Croes and Vondellaan in Playa as people gathered to say goodbye to Robert Jeand’or, the beloved Aruban singer and leader of the Solo Banda Show. Known for more than 30 years of entertaining the community during Carnival parades, Robert’s music once again echoed through the streets in his honor.

Members of Los Laga Bai organized a mini-Carnival parade, joined by local singers performing his most popular songs. As the procession reached Plaza Betico Croes, Los Laga Bai formed a circle in tribute, dancing in costume to celebrate the life of this iconic artist.

The official ceremony followed at Cas di Cultura, where Robert’s casket was placed in front of the lobby, while the Solo Banda Show truck became a stage for local musicians to perform in homage. Masters of ceremony Edjean Semeleer and Ivan Kelie Jr. welcomed tributes from government officials, parliamentarians, company directors, and fellow musicians.

Singer Danny Koolman proposed naming a street “Caya Robert Jeand’or” to permanently honor the legendary artist whose music touched Aruba and beyond.

Crowds patiently lined up to pay their respects, while a Dominican delegation laid the Dominican Republic flag on his casket, honoring his connection with the wider Caribbean.

On Saturday, September 27, his remains will rest at the Inmaculada Concepcion Church in Santa Cruz from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by cremation at Aurora Funeral Home. Before reaching the church, the procession will pass landmarks including Veld di Arsenal, Alto Vista Chapel, and his home in Tanki Leendert.

The Mansur family and Diario extend their heartfelt condolences to Robert Jeand’or’s family, friends, and fans.
