The Christmas light park at Sero Jan Flemming has officially opened, welcoming families and the wider community to enjoy a festive atmosphere filled with lights and music. The highlight of the evening was a performance by Jeon, who grew up in the Jan Flemming neighborhood, right beside the hill that has now been transformed into a glowing attraction for all of Aruba.
Organizers Crispina Boekhoudt and Miguel Wever, who is responsible for Sero Jan Flemming, shared that preparing the park took a great deal of effort. Even on the day of the opening, there was still work to be done, but the team pushed through to make sure everything was ready in time. The strong turnout from the community exceeded expectations, though they were confident the park would fill up once Jeon’s performance was confirmed.
Behind the scenes, extra care was taken to keep the event running smoothly. From the kitchen to the bar area, staff members stayed active throughout the evening to ensure that visitors had everything they needed and could fully enjoy the celebration.
Jonathan “Jeon” Thiel said that his heart has always remained in Jan Flemming, and performing there is especially meaningful because it is his own neighborhood. Miguel met Jeon in a supermarket some time ago and invited him to the park’s opening. Despite his busy schedule, Jeon did not want to miss the chance to give back to his community. He said he would never refuse an invitation from Jan Flemming. “If they ask me, I will always come. I will always sing here with a lot of love,” Jeon said.
