The Public Prosecutor’s Office has announced that during Carnival 72, the Aruba Police Force will once again carry out preventive weapon checks (preventive searches) to enhance public safety on the streets.

As in previous years, these preventive controls are intended to reduce the risk posed by weapons and their use during large public events. Police officers will be authorized to stop individuals, inspect clothing, bags, and packages, and conduct searches of vehicles and other means of transport for weapons.

The first Carnival event where preventive searches will take place is Fakkel in Oranjestad, scheduled for January 3 and 4, 2026.
