ORANJESTAD, Aruba — The Oranjestad traffic control fines Aruba operation resulted in a significant number of violations during a large-scale police checkpoint held Saturday afternoon and evening.
Police officers from the Oranjestad district, together with personnel from the Department of Transport (DTP), carried out a general traffic control at several locations. The operation focused on both private vehicles and public transportation units, including TX, O, and T vehicles.
A total of 194 motor vehicles were inspected during the control. Authorities issued 73 fines for various violations, including lack of insurance, expired inspections, unpaid road tax, missing or invalid driver’s licenses, failure to wear seatbelts, malfunctioning headlights, and missing license plate lights.
During the operation, one individual was arrested for possession of illegal drugs. In addition, DTP officers issued 17 official reports related to transportation regulations.
Police stated that these controls are part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety, enforce traffic laws, and ensure compliance among both private and public transport drivers in Aruba.
