Over the weekend, the district of Noord celebrated the opening of the new music school “Porta pa Harmonia.” The idea was born during a community action in Semeleerstraat, when Prime Minister Mike Eman noticed an abandoned house and envisioned giving it a meaningful purpose.
The house once belonged to Mrs. Ramona Visser, a courageous woman who raised nine children and overcame many challenges. Wanting to honor her strength and love for children, the Prime Minister contacted her children to share the idea of transforming their family home into a place of inspiration and learning. They enthusiastically agreed, and the school was named “Porta pa Harmonia – dedicated to Mrs. Ramona Visser.”
The Aruba Music School (Arubaanse Muziekschool – AMS) embraced the idea, while the Fundacion Cas pa Comunidad Arubano (FCCA) provided full cooperation to renovate the house. The organizations aim to continue expanding such initiatives to other neighborhoods across Aruba, creating more spaces for music and cultural development.
This heartfelt project, a collaboration between Prime Minister Eman, AMS, and FCCA, offers hope and opportunity to young people in Aruba who wish to discover and develop their musical talents.
Prime Minister Eman expressed his gratitude and commitment to continue supporting similar projects that empower the community and nurture Aruba’s youth through art and education.
