The Give to Gain Jennifer Arends Reyes International Women’s Day message emphasized that real progress in society comes when people choose to support, respect, and create opportunities for others.

Speaking in connection with International Women’s Day, Parliamentarian and AVP faction leader Jennifer Arends-Reyes highlighted this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” explaining that meaningful change begins when communities invest in the empowerment of women.

Empowering Women Strengthens the Nation

According to the Give to Gain Jennifer Arends Reyes International Women’s Day message, investing in women should not be seen as an expense but rather as a long-term benefit for the entire country.

“Give to Gain reminds us that investing in women is not a cost but a gain for our nation,” Arends-Reyes stated. “When we give young women access to education, guidance, and economic opportunities, we create leadership, innovation, and stability for Aruba’s future.”

She noted that supporting women contributes directly to national development and social stability.

Collective Responsibility Across Society

The Give to Gain Jennifer Arends Reyes International Women’s Day message called on all sectors of society — including government, the private sector, social organizations, and communities — to reflect on what they can contribute to building a more inclusive future.

Arends-Reyes suggested several key areas where support can make a difference:

  • expanding training and professional development opportunities for young women

  • providing stronger support for single mothers and vulnerable families

  • prioritizing protection against domestic violence and abuse

  • encouraging female entrepreneurship and financial independence

Gender Equality as Strategic Investment

The Give to Gain Jennifer Arends Reyes International Women’s Day message stressed that gender equality is not only a social goal but also a strategic investment in national progress.

“If we provide confidence and resources to our women, they will gain strength and independence,” she explained. “And through their progress, Aruba will also benefit.”

A Call for Real Action

Arends-Reyes concluded by stating that International Women’s Day should go beyond symbolic words and become a commitment to building a society where every young woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential.

“Give to Gain is a mindset,” she said. “When we give with an open heart and long-term vision, everyone benefits — as families, as a community, and as a nation.”
