ORANJESTAD (AAN): The Aruba Police Force has once again emphasized the importance of voluntarily surrendering illegal firearms following the arrest and conviction of a man for firearm possession.
On Sunday, March 29, 2026, police conducted a vehicle check and discovered a bag containing a pistol and ammunition. The suspect, identified as T.S.C., a man born in Aruba, was immediately detained for violating firearm laws.
The case was handled swiftly by the Aruba Police Force and the Public Prosecutor’s Office. On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the suspect appeared before the court in a fast-track hearing (“snelrecht zitting”). The judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison, of which 6 months are conditional. Additionally, he has been placed under supervision by the probation service as part of his sentence.
The Illegal Firearm Aruba Arrest highlights the serious risks that illegal weapons pose to the community. Authorities continue to stress that firearm possession without legal authorization is a major public safety concern.
Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office are also reminding the public that the voluntary firearm surrender campaign is still ongoing. The initiative allows individuals to hand over illegal firearms without facing prosecution for possession.
The campaign will continue until April 24, 2026. Firearms can be anonymously deposited in designated blue boxes located in San Nicolas.
Authorities have issued a strong warning that enforcement operations will continue to intensify across all neighborhoods. Citizens are urged to take advantage of this opportunity now and avoid legal consequences by surrendering illegal firearms through the Illegal Firearm Aruba Arrest initiative.
