ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Grand Parade Oranjestad Records 25 Arrests During Carnival 72, according to information released by the Cuerpo Policial Aruba.
On Sunday at exactly 11:00 AM, SMAC together with KPA officially started the Grand Parade of Oranjestad.
The Aruba Police Force deployed approximately 200 officers on the ground. Various departments worked together, including Uniform Police, ME, Motor Unit, K-9, Mobile Command, O.C.C., Flex Team, Traffic Unit, Planning Department, Criminal Investigation Department, administrative personnel, and CEA staff.
At 5:46 PM, the head of the parade reached the former DOW location, and by 8:20 PM, the final lap was completed.
At 9:44 PM, the traditional burning of King Momo took place at Harbour Arena, officially marking the end of Carnival 72.
A total of 25 individuals were detained during the event. Arrests were made for offenses including fighting, failing to follow police orders, insulting police officers, public intoxication, drug possession, and possession of a bladed weapon.
For comparison, during Carnival 2025, a total of 36 arrests were recorded.
Police authorities emphasized that maintaining public order and safety remains a priority during large-scale events such as Carnival.
