The Anti-Drug Foundation Aruba (FADA) is preparing to significantly expand its awareness efforts in 2026 by making its BAR project, “Bo Amigo Responsabel” (Your Responsible Friend), more visible throughout the community.
Speaking in a recent interview with DIARIO, FADA representative Rubiella Toppenberg explained that the organization’s goal is not only to provide information about the BAR initiative, but also to ensure that its presence is clearly seen across the island, especially in situations involving alcohol consumption. According to Toppenberg, visual reminders have a stronger impact, particularly at moments when people are making decisions about drinking and driving.
As part of the plan, FADA aims to place large signage, posters, and billboards in front of bars, restaurants, supermarkets, and other locations where alcohol is sold. These visual displays are intended to reinforce the message of responsible behavior and encourage people to plan ahead.
The project requires a substantial budget, and FADA plans to actively seek funding in 2026 to fully implement these visibility measures and expand the reach of the BAR program across Aruba.
In the meantime, FADA continues to deliver a clear message to the Aruban public during the festive season:
“If you plan to go out and have drinks, be aware and choose your ‘Bo Amigo Responsabel’ before leaving home. Better yet, plan ahead
