Electronic Monitoring Bracelets to be Introduced for Certain Types of Punishments Starting February 2, 2026
ORANJESTAD (AAN): On Tuesday afternoon, Minister of Justice Mr. Drs. Arthur Dowers received a presentation from the Stichting Reclassering en Jeugdbescherming Aruba on the use of electronic ankle bracelets for certain types of punishment. The presentation included, among other things, the topic of electronic supervision. During the meeting, a modern and innovative system that is already successfully in use in Curaçao was introduced.
The British company, Buddi, presented its electronic supervision system, which focuses on control, tracking, and accountability, using advanced technology. The system will officially be in use starting February 2nd.
In addition to its application within the criminal justice system, electronic supervision offers wide possibilities beyond just sanctioning and control. It can also play a valuable role in reinforcing compliance with regulations and promoting more effective and sustainable management within the administrative enforcement area.
With this development, the Ministry of Justice continues to implement modern solutions that contribute to a safer and more responsible society.
