ORANJESTAD (AAN): Edwina Werleman resigns from Stichting Musica, announcing that her most recent Carnival activities marked her final appearance as president of the organization.
Werleman made the announcement on Monday afternoon during the Ivo Yanez program on Canal 90. She explained that her final remaining responsibility as president will be the Caiso Festival scheduled for May 2026.
According to Werleman, Edwina Werleman resigns from Stichting Musica to allow space for new leadership with fresh ideas that can further strengthen the important organization representing local musicians. She cited personal reasons and health considerations, noting that she has served many years in the leadership role.
She also suggested that the board of Stichting Musica consider expanding the executive team to better distribute responsibilities. Werleman emphasized that Edwina Werleman resigns from Stichting Musica is not due to disappointment or conflict, but rather a thoughtful and positive personal decision.
Although stepping down, she indicated that she remains willing to support the foundation by offering advice or assistance when needed. Werleman encouraged local bands to begin proposing candidates and organizing a proper election process to select a new president.
She concluded by stating that individuals who have long believed they could contribute more should now step forward and take responsibility to guide Stichting Musica into its next chapter.
