On February 19, 2026, from 6:30 to 9:00 PM, an exciting activity will take place at the Aruba National Library, George Madurostraat, Oranjestad, in celebration of World Mother Language Day.
Ban Causa Furor presents a program focusing on Papiamento, the mother tongue of most Aruban citizens, with a range of performances and presentations. The program will include expressions in literature, a book presentation, documentaries, talks, music, and singing, showcasing the diverse talents of Aruban artists.
The event also honors the Centennial (1926-2026) of the book “El Papiamento, the Simplest Grammar” by Dr. Rodolfo Lenz, re-edited by Mr. Ralph Yarzagaray in 2009, with an introduction by Drs. Mirto Laclé.
The celebration features performances by Grupo Rondalla Universo, an ensemble of 11 guitarists, led by Rey Lampe and Michael Croes, whose music will delight the audience.
Additionally, Harpa y Cuarta Musical Academy will perform with an orchestra and choir, celebrating its 30th anniversary of musical excellence. Special guest Desiree Correa, a renowned author, will present her book “Toi-toi-toi”, a collection of cultural theater works in Papiamento.
The event will also feature a performance of “Julie”, a Papiamento song by Ronny Kock, and a poem presentation by Aurelia Croes and Marilis Becker.
