The AVP-Futuro Cabinet has taken steps to address long-standing concerns from residents of the Mabon Complex, demonstrating its commitment to community needs as outlined in its governing agreement.
During a recent neighborhood clean-up, residents approached Prime Minister Mike Eman with worries about an old, neglected passageway. Sharisa Ras, a local resident, voiced her concern and requested not only a cleanup but also improvements to make the path safer and more accessible for daily use.
The passage is frequently used by residents to reach the bus stop or take a shortcut home. However, its steep incline, lack of lighting, and slippery conditions during rainfall have created safety risks, especially for elderly residents. Many still take the route despite the dangers, preferring it over the longer alternative.
In response, the Prime Minister engaged the Department of Public Works (DOW) to develop a practical solution. Together, they proposed the construction of a durable wooden staircase designed as a platform, with wider and longer steps to make it easier for seniors and others to navigate.
Additionally, lighting will be installed along the passage to improve visibility and safety at night. Soon, the Mabon Complex will benefit from a safer, more accessible pathway that meets the needs of its residents.
