During a work visit to the Netherlands, Aruba’s Prime Minister, Mr. Mike Eman, held a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister, Mr. Dick Schoof, in The Hague.
The meeting focused on key topics concerning Aruba, including tourism, economic development, and the ongoing discussions surrounding the Rijkswet. Prime Minister Schoof expressed that Aruba is on the right track and that the matter will be addressed in the upcoming Rijksministerraad meeting, which will take place this week with the participation of Prime Minister Eman.
Prime Minister Eman emphasized the importance of a strong and stable relationship within the Kingdom, noting that such ties are crucial for Aruba’s financial confidence and stability. In this context, he highlighted that an agreement with the Netherlands on financial matters would result in a 20 million florin reduction in interest costs.
Additionally, the discussion touched on the possibility of Wageningen University playing a more active role in Aruba and the potential creation of a “Kingdom Investment Fund” that would benefit all the islands in the Kingdom.
