The first half of 2025 saw a total of 402 new business permits issued in Aruba, reflecting a healthy boost in entrepreneurial activity. Minister of Economic Affairs Geoffrey Wever expressed pride in the progress, particularly the strong demand in the real estate and construction sectors.
Between April and June alone, the Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce, and Industry (DEACI) processed 634 business-related requests. While 245 were completed and granted, 234 are still under review and 155 couldn’t be processed due to missing documents or unpaid fees.
From May to June, 201 of these permits were for new business setups, including:
-
139 for VBA (private limited companies)
-
27 for sole proprietorships
-
30 for branches, among others
Most of the approvals were in real estate, holding companies, restaurants, salons, and construction businesses.
Minister Wever highlighted the success of the 2022 business policy reform, which streamlined procedures by eliminating unnecessary requirements and digitizing the application system.
“Our goal is to issue permits within two weeks,” he said, praising DEACI for their continued efficiency and dedication.
