In the context of evolving global geopolitical developments, AVP Fraction Leader and Member of Parliament Jennifer Arends-Reyes stated on Sunday that it is crucial for Aruba to remain vigilant and prepared for any regional or international changes that could impact the country.

During recent parliamentary meetings with Prime Minister Mike Eman, it was revealed that government entities and local experts have been discussing issues related to regional security, the movement of global powers in the Caribbean, climate change, and their potential effects on Aruba’s economic and social stability.

Parliamentarian Arends-Reyes emphasized the importance of strategic preparation and inter-institutional coordination.
“We live in a region where global powers have strategic interests. Aruba, as part of the Dutch Kingdom, plays a stabilizing role—one that comes with responsibility. We must remain alert and have plans in place, both at the diplomatic and internal levels, to protect our national interests and the well-being of the Aruban people,” she stated.

The AVP leader also highlighted the need for contingency plans and reinforced cooperation within the Kingdom, particularly in the areas of security, critical infrastructure, energy, and health.
