Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA), operator of Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA), has released its 2024 Annual Report, showcasing a year of extraordinary progress. With over 3.2 million passengers—the highest in its history—the airport achieved record-breaking growth, advanced major infrastructure developments, and strengthened its leadership in sustainability and community engagement.

Record-Breaking Passenger Traffic and Expanded Connectivity

In 2024, AUA welcomed over 3.2 million travelers, a 14% increase from 2023, cementing its role as a central hub in the Caribbean. The airport expanded its reach with 25 airline partners and more than 45 direct routes, including several new international connections that boosted Aruba’s accessibility for both leisure and business travelers.

Delivering Operational Excellence Amid Rising Demand

Despite the surge in traffic, AAA maintained high service standards, with customer satisfaction scores of 4.11 and 3.98 on a 5-point scale. The authority responded swiftly to operational challenges—such as an August HVAC system failure—with effective contingency planning and reinforced maintenance protocols.

AAA also implemented corrective measures following a 2023 audit to prepare for the 2024 DCAA recertification under the new AUA-AGA aviation law, further enhancing compliance and reliability.

Gateway 2030 Project Reaches Key Milestones

Significant progress was made on Phase 1A of the Gateway 2030 Project, AAA’s transformative infrastructure initiative to modernize AUA Airport. Critical construction phases were completed in 2024, positioning the project for operational launch in 2025. Designed with smart technologies and sustainable practices, Gateway 2030 is set to boost capacity, enhance passenger comfort, and future-proof Aruba’s air travel infrastructure.

Environmental Sustainability and Carbon Reduction Efforts

AAA retained its Green Globe Certification and Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation, demonstrating continued excellence in environmental management. Sustainability initiatives in 2024 spanned energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and biodiversity protection—all aligned with Aruba’s broader eco-tourism goals.

General Aviation Expansion and FBO Enhancements

Now in its second full year of managing in-house General Aviation (FBO) operations, AAA delivered premium services to private jet travelers, business executives, and VIP guests. Enhanced facilities and improved operational standards further strengthened AUA’s position as a premier general aviation destination in the region.

Community Engagement and Social Responsibility

AAA continued to invest in Aruba’s communities through education partnerships, youth training programs, nonprofit support, and expanded employee development initiatives. Its 2024 ESG/CSR Report highlights these efforts, reinforcing AAA’s commitment to inclusive growth and ethical governance.

Transparency, Governance, and Future Vision

Maintaining the improved reporting format introduced last year, AAA’s Annual Report presents clear goals, performance metrics, and strategic direction. The organization remains committed to accountability, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder trust, ensuring long-term, sustainable value.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As AAA enters 2025, it is poised to build on its 2024 successes with the upcoming launch of Gateway 2030 Phase 1A, continued airline expansion, and further sustainability gains. The airport aims to deliver enhanced traveler experiences, embrace innovation, and serve as a responsible steward for Aruba’s future.

Conclusion

The 2024 Annual Report marks a defining chapter in Aruba Airport Authority’s journey—one shaped by record traveler numbers, infrastructure transformation, and ESG leadership. More than a reflection of past achievements, it serves as a blueprint for a resilient, efficient, and community-centered future at Aruba’s gateway to the world.
