ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba marked a historic milestone on January 1, 2026, with the launch of a new direct flight service between Argentina and Aruba operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas. After years of being identified as a priority market due to steadily growing demand, Aruba has taken a major step forward in strengthening its Latin American air connectivity.
The inaugural flight departed from Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) in Buenos Aires with all 170 seats fully booked, highlighting strong market demand and an overwhelmingly positive response from Argentine travelers.
To formally celebrate the occasion, an inaugural ceremony was held on January 8 at Queen Beatrix International Airport in Aruba. The event brought together key stakeholders from the government, aviation, and tourism sectors. Official remarks were delivered by Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, Mr. Wendrick Cicilia, along with speeches by Ronella Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA), and Jo-Anne Arends, Aviation Business Development Executive at the Aruba Airport Authority. The celebration concluded with a traditional ribbon-cutting and cake-cutting ceremony, officially welcoming Aerolíneas Argentinas to Aruba.
Originally announced as a two-month seasonal route, the strong early performance prompted Aerolíneas Argentinas to extend the service through the end of September 2026, maintaining regular flights from Buenos Aires and Córdoba. This launch is considered highly unique, as the airline introduced the new service simultaneously from three airports.
The route operates five times per week using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with a capacity of 170 seats, offering more than 7,000 seats across 43 flights during the initial season. The new service represents a strategic move to strengthen Aruba’s presence in Latin America and diversify its route network beyond North America.
