Two Abandoned Houses Catch Fire in Prinsenstraat, Aruba – On Sunday night at around 10:00 PM, multiple police patrols and Fire Department units were urgently dispatched to a house fire in San Nicolas.
The fire was reported on Prinsenstraat, a street near the Blue Army Center. Police were the first to arrive and confirmed that one house was fully engulfed in flames. Upon further inspection, another nearby house was also found to be on fire. The two homes were close to each other, with no other properties nearby.
Both houses were abandoned, and neighbors indicated that the buildings were neglected after the original owners passed away. It is believed that homeless addicts may have broken in, using the houses as shelter and possibly starting the fire.
NV Elmar personnel had to act quickly, as a power pole nearby was also at risk of catching fire. The homes were not connected to the electrical grid.
Several police units closed off the street to allow fire crews to combat the blaze. The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, though many suspect it may have been caused by homeless individuals with troubling habits.
